Here’s a parenting rule of thumb for you: any activity that is boring for a grownup is roughly fifty times as boring for a young child. This can make plane journeys pretty much unbearable for everyone concerned. Bringing a tablet or smartphone with some kiddy-friendly apps can help, but when all else fails, why not try... gel clings. Bring a couple of sheets’ worth onto your next flight, install your child next to a window and take a big – and perhaps slightly smug – sigh of relief.
