This old favorite can keep children engaged for hours. And it’s so simple. At the beginning of a long car journey give the kids a piece of paper and a pen (and perhaps something to rest on). Then all they need to do is read as many license plates as they can during the journey and write down each different state that they see. The person with the most states at the end of the trip is the winner.
